I feel a gentle nudge, but I am already awake.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning.”

“How is it today?”

“Different.”

“Good.”

She’s made an effort, not that it’s needed. She’s beautiful the way she is. Natural, I would call it.

“What do you think?” She asks. “Will I do?”

“You’ll do,”I reply, knowing she’ll more than do.

“Why do you let her get to you? Like yesterday. It was as if I didn’t exist,” she pleads.

“If I knew that, I’d be a millionaire or a genius or a God or anything you want me to be. But I’m none of those things. I’m me.” I answer.

“What’s the plan today?” Another question.

“You tell me. I’m in your hands,” is my response, because I am. I will be visited by the ghost again but it will fade, it is fading. I can sense it.

“Follow me,” she whispers, and I do. Today will be different. I can sense that too.

‘Thank you,” I say.

“De rien,” Brittany replies.
