Aloneness is matter of choice, although it usually comes from a challenging situation.
This is mine and how aloneness helps me cope with it.
Let me start by introducing a passage from the book Mr Breakfast by Jonathan Carroll. It concerns “the ice cream question” which is this…
You’re offered a bowl of the greatest ice cream ever made, out of this world, never to be equaled, the absolute best. The only condition is you will never be able to have it again. As a result, you’ll compare any afterward to this wonderful bowl, and naturally none of them will ever taste as good.
But if you choose to reject it, you’ll often have what you believe is wonderful ice cream only because you’ve not eaten the ultimate. Which do you choose—a single taste of heaven, or a lifetime full of okays?
I was offered such a bowl, (the clue is in the picture ) and made the choice to eat it, knowing full well, when the bowl was empty, the prophecy would come true. The only way to deal with the circumstances of this action is to never eat ice cream again. That, for me, is aloneness. The only way I can deal with having consumed Heaven, albeit for a short time.
Here are the places and things which accompany me on my aloneness and help me cope with her absence… Enjoy.
